Our “Planet” rating evaluates brands based on the environmental policies in their supply chains, from carbon emissions to wastewater, ingredients' impacts, product circularity, and more. Here we rate FANCL “Not Good Enough”. These are a few factors influencing its score:

• There’s no evidence it uses any lower-impact ingredients.
• There's no evidence it's taking action to minimise the impacts of microplastics.
• There’s no evidence it’s taking actions to protect biodiversity in its supply chain.
• It uses recycled packaging
• All of its palm oil is certified by RSPO
• A medium proportion of its palm oil is certified by RSPO, however it does not publish an aggregate breakdown of palm oil used.

• There’s no evidence it provides financial security to its suppliers, which can result in poor working conditions and wages.
• It has a basic policy to support diversity and inclusion in its direct operations and supply chain.
• Its Code of Conduct covers ILO principles.
• There’s no evidence it ensures workers are paid living wages in its supply chain.

Brands’ animal welfare policies and, where applicable, how well they trace their animal-derived products, are the focus of our “Animals” rating. Here we rate FANCL “Very Poor”. These are a few factors influencing its score:

• It uses animal-derived ingredients in its products.
• It does not have a certification, policy, or statement against the use of animal testing in its supply chains.
• It appears to use ingredients derived from farmed animals, including collagen.
• It has not made any public commitments to eliminate animal-derived ingredients.
