FERMENSTATION

Our “Planet” rating evaluates brands based on the environmental policies in their supply chains, from carbon emissions to wastewater, ingredients' impacts, product circularity, and more. Here we rate FERMENSTATION “Good”. These are a few factors influencing its score:

• It uses some lower-impact ingredients including upcycled/recycled and certified organic, however it does not publish an aggregate breakdown of ingredients used.
• It manufactures its products closer to home to reduce the climate impact of long-distance shipping.
• It was created with the principal purpose to address the environmental impacts of cosmetics production and consumption.
• It discloses its ingredients, which indicates none are derived from palm oil/palm kernel oil.

Workers’ rights are central to our “People” rating, which assesses brands’ policies and practices on everything from child labour to living wages and gender equality. Here we rate FERMENSTATION “It's a Start”. These are a few factors influencing its score:

• Its final production stage happens in medium-risk countries for labour abuse, however it doesn't publish an aggregate breakdown of supplier locations.
• There's no evidence it has a Code of Conduct but it has a formal statment covering workers rights.
• It traces some of its supply chain.
• There’s no evidence it ensures workers are paid living wages in its supply chain.
