Our “Planet” rating evaluates brands based on the environmental policies in their supply chains, from carbon emissions to wastewater, ingredients' impacts, product circularity, and more. Here we rate Prada “Good”. These are a few factors influencing its score:
- There’s no evidence it uses any lower-impact ingredients.
- It uses some recycled packaging.
- It’s set a science-based target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in both its direct operations and supply chain but there’s no evidence it is on track.
- It publishes a policy to assess the biodegradability and environmental toxicity of all of its ingredients and formulas.
- All of its palm oil is RSPO-certified.
Workers’ rights are central to our “People” rating, which assesses brands’ policies and practices on everything from child labour to living wages and gender equality. Here we rate Prada “It's a Start”. These are a few factors influencing its score:
- It partly traces its supply chain including the final, second and some of the first production stages.
- There’s no evidence it provides financial security to its suppliers, which can result in poor working conditions and wages.
- It's actively involved with organisations that aim to identify and end modern slavery in supply chains.
- It audits some of its supply chain including all of the final production stage.
- Its Code of Conduct covers [ILO] principles.
- It ensures some workers in the final production stage are paid living wages, though not through its entire supply chain.
Note that the “People” rating in Good On You’s methodology is defined by labour rights and does not consider consumer health.
Brands’ animal welfare policies and, where applicable, how well they trace their animal-derived products, are the focus of our “Animals” rating. Here we rate Prada “Very Poor”.
- It doesn’t clearly state what animal-derived ingredients it uses.
- It has not made any public commitments to eliminate animal-derived ingredients.
- It does not have a certification, policy, or statement against the use of animal testing in its supply chain.
