Pamut's environment rating is 'great'. It uses a high portion of eco friendly materials including 75% Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified organic cotton, and a low portion of non eco friendly materials such as polyester and leather. It has a goal to make all woven garments from organic cotton by 2018. Most of its products are made by hand artisianally using low impact water based dyes. It reduces its carbon footprint by sourcing textiles from the same region it manufactures in. Its high use of eco-friendly materials limits the amount of chemicals, water and wastewater used in production.
Its labour rating is 'good'. All products are made in-house by a small team in the USA, a medium risk country for labour rights. It traces suppliers in all of its supply chain and sources most of its textiles from the USA. It is unclear if it ensures payment of a living wage in its first and second stages of production.
Its animal rating is 'good'. It does not use fur, wool, angora, down or exotic animal skin or hair. However it uses leather without specifying its sources.
