Our ratings are based on a scale from 1 (We avoid) to 5 (Great) How we rate

Ermenegildo Zegna is owned by The Zegna Group.

Its environment rating is 'not good enough'. It uses some eco-friendly materials including organic cotton. There is no evidence it has set a greenhouse gas emissions reduction target. It has eliminated some hazardous chemicals from its supply chain but has not set a time bound target to eliminate all hazardous chemicals. There is no evidence it has a policy to protect biodiversity in its supply chain.

Its labour rating is 'not good enough'. Little of its supply chain is certified by labour standards which ensure worker health and safety, living wages or other labour rights. It received a score of 21-30% in the 2021 Fashion Transparency Index. There is no evidence it ensures payment of a living wage in its supply chain. It has been linked with sourcing cotton from the Xinjiang region in China at risk of using Uyghur forced labour and has taken insufficient steps to remediate.

Its animal rating is 'not good enough'. It has a general statement about minimising animal suffering but not a formal animal welfare policy. It uses leather, wool, down, exotic animal hair and exotic animal skin. It does not use angora or fur. It traces most animal products to the first stage of production.

Ermenegildo Zegna is rated 'Not good enough' overall.
