At the time of rating, Carvela had recently been acquired by Steve Madden, but had not been included in Steve Madden's most recently available reports. This rating considers information which precedes its acquisition by Steve Madden.

Our “Planet” rating evaluates brands based on the environmental policies in their supply chains, from carbon emissions and wastewater to business models and product circularity. Here we rate Carvela “Not Good Enough”. These are a few factors influencing its score:

• There’s no evidence it uses any lower-impact materials.
• There’s no evidence it’s set a target to manage water use in its supply chain.
• There’s no evidence it minimises solvent-based chemicals, which can be harmful to workers and the environment in production.
• Its packaging is recyclable.
